A Force of a Million

By D’Janapha Fortune

Earlier this year, a collaboration of ministries across the country released a call for a million women to unite on the National Mall in Washington D.C. (and online) to pray for the nation on October 12. When I saw this event weeks before the actual date, my immediate reaction was one of amazement. What a bold endeavor for the people of God in this season! And what a sight to see the fruition of this call. Girls, women, men, families, churches, and communities gathered excited and hungry to petition for God’s glory on earth.

My time on the National Mall led me to reflect on my own prayer life. The times I am alone in the presence of God – what is the quality of my faith? Do I see myself as a praying woman with a force of a million behind me? Am I bold enough in my faith? Bold enough in my supplications and decrees to trust the Lord Almighty is waiting to partner with me for His purposes to come to pass? Do I pray as a warrior commissioned in the army of the Lord? And if not, why?

The reality is, God has given us the gift of prayer to petition for ourselves and the people and causes we care about in a supernatural way with supernatural outcomes. It is a direct communication line between heaven and earth. Prayer is an opportunity to exchange our limited capacity and perspective for God’s ability and wisdom. Simply put, prayer shifts things.

In writing this week’s musing, it is my prayer that every woman reading this would truly believe that her partnership with God is a force of a million. If in a season of distress or discouragement, we have access to a God who has conquered it all. If in a season of joy and hope, we have access to a God who is willing and ready to multiply. Our God is loving, faithful, and generous. These truths we stand on for the betterment of our spirit, soul, and body.

So, for what bold prayers will you partner with God today?

Before they call, I will answer, while they are yet speaking I will hear (Isaiah 65:24).

O Lord of hosts, happy is everyone who trusts in you (Psalm 84:12).
